Accessibility

Designed for equitable access in English and Arabic

The website foundation prioritizes semantic structure, keyboard use, readable data, bilingual navigation, and reliable right-to-left behavior.

Accessibility target

WCAG 2.2 Level AA is the design and testing goal

The website is designed toward this target. Formal conformance is not claimed until an independent audit and testing with users and assistive technologies are completed.

Accessibility built into the structure

Keyboard and focus

Navigation and core links use native interactive elements, logical focus order, visible focus treatment, and a skip-to-content route.

Language and direction

English uses left-to-right layout and Arabic uses true right-to-left layout. Patent identifiers and technical codes remain isolated in their correct reading order.

Charts with table alternatives

Every statistical visual is paired with a captioned data table and equivalent drill-through link; meaning never depends on color alone.

Readable and responsive content

Headings, landmarks, flexible grids, contrast targets, touch-friendly controls, and reflow at narrow widths guide the component system.

Accessibility features in this website

The current public website includes these foundations:

  • Semantic headings, lists, tables, captions, and landmarks
  • Locale-preserving language-switch routes
  • Logical CSS properties for mirrored layouts
  • Text labels for states that also use color or badges
  • Reduced-motion requirements for later interactive components

Ongoing accessibility testing

Future formal reviews should include:

  • Keyboard-only and visible-focus testing across every route
  • Screen-reader testing in English and Arabic
  • Zoom, reflow, contrast, and high-contrast-mode checks
  • Arabic mixed-direction tests for dates, patent numbers, and classification codes
  • Usability review with people who use assistive technologies
